We all are on facebook, some of us are on twitter and read or host our own blogs. Social media is a part of our everyday life, so should a wedding be any exception? There are tons of ways to share your happy news online with your friends and family. Here are some of my favorite tips to make the most out of the internet and social media during your engagement!
Create a bridal email account
You will no doubt be giving your email address to tons of people during your enegagement and wedding shopping. Create an account just for wedding related things. Register for brideandgroom@gmail.com to keep all your wedding type emails in one place. It is a great was to keep track of vendors for quotes and ideas, but even a better tool to use at bridal shows. Most bridal companies want your email at the bridal shows and will add you to their email lists, some even sell your email to other vendors. Having a wedding email will keep your work inbox from being flooded with offers for honeymoons.
Start a Bridal Blog
Register for a free blog with any number of blogging platrforms like Blogger, Tumblr, or Posterous. Brideandgroom.blogspot.com is a great place for keeping everyone in the loop. Since blogs are more interactive and able to be constantly updated, unlike free wedding sites like The Knot. This makes it great for sharing all your little details from decisions like chicken or fish, first dance suggestions, or wedding colors. Your friends and family can read and comment and share their opinions. A blog also keeps your facebook page free from becoming wedding central and annoying your single friends. Other great wedding blog ideas? Let everyone know the bridal party and family, share fun stories and constantly updatable.
Tweet like a Bride
Not crazy about twitter? Give it a shot and try creating an account, @bride on twitter. Twitter is great for quick vendor communication, getting information on local bridal events, and networking with other brides. Lots of vendors also announce and offer special discounts. Use their super powerful search.twitter.com to check for deals and stories in your area. You can also follow some of your favorite bridal magazines like The Knot and Brides.com for up to the minute updates. Best yet? Use it for all your bridal needs and delete it when you’re done.
Gather Ideas from Wedding Blogs
There are literally thousands of bridal blogs out there! Search some of these fabulous blogs as a great way to get tips, tricks, and see the trends. Bridal blogs are a great way to look for inspiration from other weddings and photo shoots. Check out Style Me Pretty for their great, user friendly inspiration boards, you can even create your own! Other great blogs, Martha Stewart Weddings, Wedding Bee, and I Heart Peonies. But don’t just limit yourself to the big bridal blogs, check out some small business blogs like Everything But The Dress and Meg Wedding Jewelry.
