Formal Wedding PoseFormal Wedding PoseRSC Photography is the photography company run by Robert Banham, and is based in Chelmsford, England.  Along with a full range of photography services, from commercial shoots to restoration work, Robert also photographs many weddings

When looking for a photographer, sometimes it can seem off putting if a photographer doesn't only shoot weddings, however keep in mind that most wedding photography will only take up a Saturday, and thriving photographers will want to fill their time and stretch their experience by taking on a range of other types of photography.   When viewing aphotographer's portfolio, pay particular attention to the wedding albums,  but sometimes seeing their creativity in other areas isn't a bad idea either.

Candid shotCandid shotRobert uses a combination of traditional and reportage photography styles to create a great all-round visual representation of a wedding. This creates a great selection of both formal shots and more relaxed images.  His general style is candid and informal.

Although people may be arranged into poses,  Robert has a knack for capturing an image that shows people enjoying the day, rather than staring blankly into the camera.  This sometimes means that one person may be looking slightly away, smiling at another guest, but it adds a feeling of honesty and gives a genuine atmosphere to the images that is often lacking from 'perfect' poses.

Extra points for:
Making it policy to visit the venue before the wedding day, and at no extra cost.

"Before the event, I like to see the venues involved, meet you and any officials key to the day.  I don’t want to bother you on the day asking questions on what you want as this does tend to spoil your enjoyment of the occasion."

You might be surprised to learn that not all photographers take the time to familiarize themselves with the venue before the actual wedding, often leaving them scrambling to find the best position to shoot from.  I know of at least one photographer who was actually turned away from the wedding because he had not met with the church coordinator before-hand and was therefor not aware of the church rules for photography.

Romance capturedRomance capturedIt is vital that your photographer knows where we can stand for each shot,  where he can set up and store his equipment, where he can find a power source if needed, what type of lighting he will need and whether or not he can use flash photography.

Don't you also want your photographer to have scouted for the best locations in the venue to take photographs?  Where will he arrange large family shots?  What parts of the venue lend themselves to romantic or personal shots?

You do not want to have to think about these things on your wedding day,  and why should you?  Hire a photographer who will put in a bit of ground work to ensure he does his best for you.
