How Far is Too Far?

How Far is Too Far?

Although most brides spend untold hours painstakingly planning each detail of their wedding to ensure that it is special and tasteful, there are some couple who just don't care.  They want their wedding their way, and are quite willing to flaunt the normal traditions, as well as stretch the boundaries of what is socially acceptable.  While I am all for couples celebrating their commitment in a special way that is relevant to them, there are some things are a just bad taste.  Highlighting the best of these wedding mockeries is Wedinator.com.

From fashion disasters to shocking cake toppers, the site is a great "how NOT to plan your wedding" guide!

So how do you know where to draw the line if you want a contemporary, unique wedding?  The best rule of thumb is to think about the reactions of the people who mean most to you.  Which guests are most important for sharing your wedding with, and how would they feel about your ideas?

While it is true that the most important people at a wedding are the bride and groom, your guests will have given up time and money to be there to help you celebrate and the last thing you want to do is have them leave with a bad taste in their mouth.  If you have your heart set on a leather gown and a high gothic theme wedding but don't want to give poor Great Aunt Bess a heart attack, perhaps you need to plan two weddings?  One for kindred spirits, and one for more old fashioned guests.
