Why Do People Care if Their Mom/Sister/Best Friend/Whoever Likes Their Wedding Dress?

Why Do People Care if Their Mom/Sister/Best Friend/Whoever Likes Their Wedding Dress?

It's YOUR Wedding

I have recently discovered TLC.  I'm not a big TV watcher - at least I wasn't until I learned about the joys of couponing and wedding dresses and toddlers with way too much makeup.  I'm hooked now, I tell ya.

I was watching Say Yes to the Dress the other day, and I seriously wanted to scream.  What the heck is wrong with some of these so-called friends and family members?  I could not believe how selfish some of them were.

There was one girl who was desperate to please her sister.  Her sister, who, just for the record, was only 15 years old and hated every single dress that the bride-to-be tried on.  The future bride ended up stressed and frazzled on a day that should have been fun.

Then there was a beautiful girl whose family hated all her dresses.  She was drop-dead gorgeous and could have rocked a paper bag, but they still hated all the dresses that she came out wearing.  One was too low-cut, another was too big, and another had weird fabric - according to her mother.  The girl getting married loved them all.  Finally, her brother apologized and reminded her that this was HER day, not THEIRS.  Duh.

So what do you think about women like this?  Would you let somebody choose your wedding dress or make you feel bad about your first choice?  If so, why?  Maybe I'm just a jerk, but I could care less what anybody thinks about the dress that I want to wear to MY wedding.  My wedding, my husband, my dress - MY WAY.  I'll say "yes" to whatever dress I love, even if the rest of you are screaming, "NO, NO, NO!".  Sorry.
